Nos últimos quatro anos, a Paraíba entrou significativamente na rota de
produção da droga, com plantios encontrados em municípios do Sertão,
Cariri e Agreste. A cidade de Monteiro, no Cariri, é considerada pela
polícia e especialistas em combate às drogas como a principal área de
risco, por conta da localização geográfica favorável à ação de
traficantes foragidos do ‘Polígono da Maconha’, em Pernambuco.Em Prata e
Ouro Velho (próximos a Monteiro), também já houve descoberta de
plantios.
Monteiro, há quatro anos, já era apontado pela Polícia Federal como um
dos 10 principais produtores de maconha, em mapa que ainda colocou na
rota, Catolé do Rocha,Princesa Isabel e outras sete cidades.
Não é de hoje que traficantes enxergam a Paraíba como área propícia à
produção, mas a fuga deles para o Estado se intensificou nos últimos
anos, com a pressão policial nas cidades do ‘Polígono da Maconha’, em
Pernambuco. De 2011 a 2013, as polícias Federal, Civil e Militar
encontraram os 306 mil pés de maconha em cinco plantios que, juntos,
somavam uma área de 20 hectares.
As maiores descobertas já realizadas em território paraibano
aconteceram este ano. A primeira em uma comunidade rural localizada
entre as cidades de São Bento e Catolé do Rocha, no Sertão.
No sítio, foram encontrados 62 mil pés plantados em 3 hectares e em
fase de colheita. A última e considerada a maior descoberta foi em
outubro, na zona rural de Monteiro, quando foram encontrados 10 hectares
onde haviam sido plantados cerca de 200 mil pés de maconha, que já
estavam em fase de produção. Ao todo, foram apreendidos quase 3 mil
